We were delighted to welcome Pat McNally, Irish Traveller from North Augusta, South Carolina to Pavee Point today as part of his visit for the Traveller Ethnicity Celebration. Mr. McNally spoke eloquently of the achievements and challenges facing his community in North Augusta, South Carolina. He spoke of the importance of education for the future of his community. He himself has seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. “We shouldn’t be afraid of education,” he said.
On this his first trip to Ireland there were also exchanges about cures, Cant – the Traveller language, religious practices, marriages, economics and discrimination. We’re looking forward to lots more exchanges at tomorrow’s event in the RHK from 11am to 6pm. www.ethnicitycelebration.ie Free parking.
