Traveller Pride Awards 2017

Thomas Maughan of Cavan won the Community Development award for his work with Traveller men and men’s sheds.

Ian McDonagh of Young Scientist fame won the Education award. Business Dragon Gavin Duffy presented the Employment & Enterprise award to Michael Power editor of Traveller’s Voice magazine. Lucht Siuil Oga of Dunalk won the Youth award.

Boxer Patrick Mongan won the Sport award and will represent Ireland in the European Boxing Championships.
 Singer Eleanor McEvoy presented the music award to singer Lizzie Connors who sang recently in Carnegie Hall in New York.  

Performer Dr. Panti Bliss presented the Arts & Culture award to Hughie Maughan – who is to host a tv series on diversity. We look forward to that. 

Equality Minister David Stanton was there to wish everyone well and there was a great audience who turned out in numbers.

The year’s event was held in the Rotunda’s Pillar Room and hosted by Brenda Donohue.
