Thomas McCarthy ‘My Comfort and My Joy’ at Douglas Hyde Gallery

Singer Thomas McCarthy spoke of how music was all around when he was growing up at the opening of ‘My Comfort And My Joy’ at the Douglas Hyde Gallery on 18th September. He explained that traditionally Travellers were the entertainment as they brought music and song from place to place. Thomas carries on this proud tradition and sang the 18th Century song My Comfort and My Joy in the Gallery.
‘My Comfort and My Joy’ is a piece commissioned by the Douglas Hyde with the Belfast-based visual artist Seamus Harahan and Thomas McCarthy. Seamus Harahan often works with music and musicians and music informs a lot of his work. The exhibition is open until 15th November and will be accompanied by a number of events. Martin Collins, Co Director Pavee Point will be giving an input at the gallery on the evening of 25th of October.
