Pavee Point was one of the 10 finalists for the “EU Health Award for NGO’s 2017 Promoting Vaccination”.
These 10 projects were selected from the submission made by projects throughout Europe. The submission Pavee Point made for the award was on ‘Community Awareness Programme on Vaccination’.
On behalf of Pavee Point Mary Brigid Collins received a certificate from the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, European Commission at an event in Brussels this week.
At the awards event Commissioner Andriukaitis said: “Immunising people against diseases caused by viruses or bacteria is one of the most cost-effective public health measures available today.
Yet, worryingly, misconceptions and scepticism about the need to vaccinate is growing. The public-facing role of Non-Governmental Organisations is crucial in the effort to ensure high vaccination coverage.”
