Discriminatory community welfare provision phase out completed: Travellers to avail of local services rather than centralised services from 1 September 2011
Centralised services for Traveller community welfare provision were found to be discriminatory in 2007 – unlike other recipients of community welfare services who could access services at their local facilities, Travellers in the Dublin Area were required to attend at offices in Dublin City Centre. We’re happy to announce that, finally, after a long phase-out, this discriminatory service has now ended, and that, with effect from September 1 2011, centralised services are over and Travellers can avail of the same service as everyone else.
