The Pavee Point Men’s Health team have recently started work with Traveller men in Cappagh field to build a grotto on site. This is the first stage of our involvement with men in Cappagh field and in the New Year we will be bringing the health aspect into our work . Building the grotto allows us to cement a relationship with the men and to find out what health issues they might want addressed in the new year. We know religion is very important within the Traveller community and the grotto will enable us to move into a wider discussion; the idea developed from the concept of a Men’s Shed, where men participate in activities while breaking down barriers and opening new avenues of discussion.
