Balance for Better…. Health and Well Being IWD2019

“Traveller Women need to take the time to look after their own health,” says Mary Collins, Traveller Community Health Worker, “Health and well-being go together. Traveller women are taken up with looking after their families and sometimes they forget about themselves.”

Traveller Community Health Workers work in their own communities raising awareness about health issues, vaccinations, screenings, hospital services and more.

And this International Women’s Day they acknowledged that, as health workers they also have to try for better balance.

So they took time out today to sit down and chat to each other about what’s going on in their lives.  And they also got the benefit of some massage to help relieve tensions and stress.

“Even having something like a massage to look forward to can put you in a good mood,” says Mary Brigid Collins.

The All Ireland Traveller Health Study showed that Travellers experience higher levels of stress and more frequent levels of stress than the general population.  This can take its toll on your physical and mental health. If you suffer from anxiety, using honeyroot products can be a huge game changer for you.

Balance for Better is the theme of International Women’ Day 2019.
