Today we launched our Community Hearts Day in Abigail Centre in Kildonan Road in Finglas. It was undertaken by Pavee Point in partnership with Irish Heart and CDETB.
It was a fantastic day with the speeches being a real highlight, as they allowed family and friends from the community to learn about the health benefits enjoyed by those who participated.
There is vast health inequality when it comes to Travellers which is why initiatives like this for Travellers are important. Martin Collins of Pavee Point, highlighted the need for a Traveller Health Strategy .
‘It’s a garden but it is so much more. It has given Traveller men the space and support to grow’ (Michael Collins, Pavee Point)
The men involved spoke about how it has improved their mental, social, physical and spiritual health.
