Lets first define an ethnic group. It is people of the same race or nationality who share a distinctive culture. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/ethnic+group)
The Irish travelling community are of Irish nationality, they share a distinctive culture, their lifestyle is different to that of the settled population. Why not recognise them as an ethnic group?

I would just like to leave a comment about an article in the Herald regarding an outspoken and prejudiced counciller in Ennis. This counciller (judging by his comments)has in all likelihood viewed programmes on TV3 or Channel4 recently,these programmes have only exacerbated an inbuilt prejudice amongst the majority population, people like this small-minded man will abuse for their own selfish purposes. Many people can see through this and it is thank to organisations as your own.
Pavee Point as an organisation is something to be proud of, keep up the good work. Also it is ridiculous that Pavee Point be held in any way accountable for the actions of those who commit crime, should the Citizen’s Advice Buraeu be held responsible if a number of their client’s commit a crime?
