At Ireland’s hearing for the UN Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights on 7 October, Alan Shatter, Minister for Justice and Equality, announced that the government was ‘seriously considering’ conferring recognition of Travellers as an ethnic minority group.  Pavee Point, along with other Traveller organisations, welcomed this decision.

Dedicated Census resource released

Pavee Point has released a dedicated resource aimed at ensuring full participation of Travellers in Census 2011. The site will hold information for people working with Travellers and eventually a video resource to encourage Traveller participation.
